EUROPEAN COMMITTEE OF THE REGIONS
Since February 2006, Marshal Marek Woźniak has been a member of the European Committee of the Regions in Brussels. He participates in the work of two commissions: the Commission for Territorial Cohesion Policy and EU Budget (COTER) and the Commission for Citizenship, Governance, Institutional and External Affairs (CIVEX).
In April 2008, he assumed the position of Head of the Polish delegation to the European Committee of the Regions. He was also elected Vice-President and Member of the Bureau of the European Committee of the Regions, positions he continues to hold to this day.
In the years 2010-2012, he served as Vice-Chair of the COTER Commission, and in September 2012, he was elected – by acclamation – Chair of this Commission, a role he held until December 2014. From 2010 to 2020, he was Vice-President of the European People’s Party (EPP) Group in the European Committee of the Regions, and currently he is a Member of the Bureau of the Group.
The European Committee of the Regions: The main task of the Committee of the Regions is to participate in the decision-making process of the European Union in order to represent and defend the interests of local and regional authorities through opinions addressed to the European Commission, the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament.
The Committee of the Regions (CoR) is the voice of cities and regions in the European Union (EU). It represents local and regional authorities from across the EU and provides advice on new legislation that affects cities and regions (around 70% of EU legislation).
The CoR is a political assembly composed of 329 members and 329 alternates from all EU countries who hold an electoral mandate at local or regional level (e.g. mayors or regional presidents). They belong to different political groups and work under the leadership of the President of the Committee.
Members of the CoR are supported by an administration headed by the Secretary-General.

CONGRESS OF LOCAL AND REGIONAL AUTHORITIES OF THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE
As a delegate of the Union of the Provinces of the Republic of Poland (Zwiazek Województw RP), Deputy Marshal Wojciech Jankowiak represents the Wielkopolska Region in the Chamber of Regions being also the Deputy Head of the Polish Delegation tothe Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe (CLRAE) in Strasbourg. Moreover, he is also representing Wielkopolska Region in Peri-urban Regions Platform Europe (PURPLE) as a Vice-President of the network.
The Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe is an advisory body which represents local and regional authorities of Member States of the Council of Europe. It consists of 648 members , who represent 200,000 local and regional authorities. The number of the representatives of each member state corresponds with the number of seats a given country is entitled to in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. Poland is represented by 24 members in the said Congress (12 members and 12 alternates).
